Mourning Ruby by Helen Dunmore
A winding tale about a woman (and her husband) mourning the death of her daughter, though this aspect of the plot wasn't clear initially. Lovely use of language and a well-crafted story overall. The insertion of the friend's novel was interesting, though somewhat distracting as well.
