When the Emperor Was Divine by Julie Otsuka
A wonderfully-written story about a Japanese family's experiences during World War II, in which they are taken away to an internment camp in Utah. I really enjoyed the writing style, though the story itself was disturbing since it was based on actual happenings. It's quite interesting to read at a time like this and is a reminder of a shameful time in the United States' history.
