A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith
This is my favorite book, after having read and reread it so many times in junior high and high school. Something about the detailed writing and main character is just so enjoyable, and I still love it now. The later part of the book is a bit different than the beginning, but, overall, it's still a cozy read.
